The Band of the Month for February 2012 is Speaker for the Dead!

SFTD is the solo project of Greg McKillop, a folk-punk/hired-gun/community-organizer/fledgling poet/queer/DIY-idealist and probably the most polite punk rocker you will ever meet from Worcester, MA. He spends 7-9 months out of every year on the road and hates writing in third person. He will come to your town/venue/house/DIY center/college/church and help foster environments of safe creativity!

Hands Like Houses have posted a new song online. The track, “Antarctica,” appears on the Canberra, Australia band’s Rise Records debut, Ground Dweller, due out March 13, 2012.

They also have many people in the music industry put on performances through out the whole event. This year, they have their 2nd ever “Celebrity Jam”, featuring the Band from TV. Stars including, Scott Grimes, James Denton, Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, Bob Guiney, Jesse Spencer, Anthony Ruivivar and others. They are also hosting the finals of NAMM’s SchoolJam USA bringing together the best teenage bands in the country to battle for bragging rights and prizes for their band and their school music programs. Which will be Co-hosted by teen pop sensation Greyson Chance and singer/songwriter Shaun Barrowes.

Face The King, in addition to their performance will be reviewing everything from guitars, keyboards and basses, to strange exotic instruments like the flute and compressors. The Ascent, the debut LP from San Diego, CA post-hardcore five-piece SECRETS will be out this Tuesday 1/17 on Velocity/Rise Records and was produced by Tom Denney (formerly of A Day To Remember). Columbus, OH’s Attack Attack! has revealed the album title, cover art and release date for the band’s long awaited new release on Rise Records. This Means War will be available everywhere on January 17, 2012. A headline tour kicks off January 26th in Columbus. The Band of the Month for January 2012 is Civil Pilots!

Civil Pilots is a four piece alternative/experimental rock band centered in Brookfield, CT. They are currently in the studio, writing and recording songs for a new album, which is projected to be released in early 2012. Civil Pilot shows are lively and energetic – like nothing seen before. This winter, they are looking to tour with some newly written songs, as they strive to build a loyal following.

The official Blackhole FM Band of the Year for 2011 is Face The King! A local band based out of New York, NY, Face The King has made tremendous progression in their musical carrer this year! Making their first appearance for us during METASTRAPHY VOL. 2 on July 10th, 2011 at The Room in Brookfield, CT, Face The King has since won the “Rumble at The Room” Battle of the Bands which landed them time in the Factory Underground Recording Studio in Norwalk, CT to record a brand new EP.

Face the King is Eric Zirlinger (singer/guitarist/keyboardist), Dan DelVecchio (guitar, backup vocals), Joey Dammacco (bass, backup vocals), and Anthony Soriano (drummer). Face the King self produced and recorded their debut 3 song self titled EP, mixed by Mike Watts, Vudu Studios, and released it to a huge response. Lyrical Lust described the bands EP as having “such a unique and amazing sound.”

The amount of attention they’ve gained the past few months has given them an amazing chance to rise to fame in the world of music! This is why they deserve to be the first ever, Blackhole FM Band of the Year!
